I've been writing backend services for about fourteen years, mostly around logistics and payments. I started on PHP monoliths at a small shop in Ortigas and spent the last six or seven years on distributed systems — queues, ledgers, the parts that have to stay correct when traffic spikes. Lately I've been doing more infrastructure work than feature work, which suits me fine; I like problems where the answer is a diagram and a migration plan rather than a new screen. Outside of work I keep a few small tools running for myself and for a rec basketball league I help organise. I'm not a designer and I know it, so I lean on people who are.
