Product designer, five years in, mostly on internal tools and forms — the software people have to use rather than the software they choose. It is unfashionable work and I like it, because the measure of success is whether somebody finished the thing they came to do, which is easier to argue about than whether a screen is nice. I build my own prototypes in code, badly but well enough that engineers do not have to guess what I meant. I am still working on doing research properly rather than doing three interviews and calling it research, which is a habit from my first job that I am slowly unlearning.

Five of us make small printed zines on a borrowed duplicator, and I got tired of us assembling pages in the wrong order, so I made the ordering a tool instead of a ritual.
